Final Post

1/12/2022 on her birthday, weeks before her diagnosis of leukemia

I believe many know by now, or will know soon, but Ruth passed away last night with me and Naomi lying in bed at her side. She went quickly after we made her Comfort care and withdrew all support. All family was present as well. Our pastors came, spoke words, and prayed over her. She is finally at peace. She fought valiantly. She is with God now, fully whole again. At least that’s what I whole heartedly believe. Prayers were answered, not how I would have wanted it, but I trust in God’s will and plan for me, Naomi, the family and all those effected by Ruth’s passing. That includes the ripple effect to all you readers. I am thankful to be surrounded by such a strong community of friends and family, who  reached out and helped out in enumerous ways. I’m sad, and will dearly miss the love of my life. But I will recover. Naomi is doing well so far and I know she is a resilient little girl. She will miss her mamma.  I will do my best to learn to braid hair.

My prayer now will be for all to be well with my soul, and those closest to her - much like the song, “It is Well with my Soul” as written by Horacio Spafford in 1876. If you don’t know the story behind it, look it up; and of course, you’ve got to listen to it.

Signing off for good…Memorial Service for friends and family to come

Roy

  12. I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t even imagine what your family is going through, but I hope you are able to lean on our Father in Heaven and your community on earth as we weep alongside you. Just as God was with you through this journey, He will be with you and your family as you learn how to navigate life now.

We know Ruth is now living in paradise, free from all her pain of her earthly body. I hope you can give yourselves grace in this time of so much hurt and grieving on this side of eternity. The One Who overcame death once and for all is holding her in her arms.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” - Revelation 21:4

  17. Roy…we grieve with you. Words are so insufficient. The newer version of that song has been on my heart this whole past month as I thought of Ruth and your family. The outcome none of us wanted is hard to accept, but in the grief there is joy in knowing she is restored and living as she was created to be. I can only imagine all the incredible adventures she’s having now. You and Naomi remain in our prayers now more than ever. Thank you for sharing your Ruth with us. -CJ & John

  23. Dear Roy and Noami, thank you so much for updating this heartbreaking news out of your deep faith and love for Jesus and His Body! We cherish Ruth's legacy. We treasure the amazing Love Story and faith in Him you both display - even in the midst of the hardest challenges and losses. Our two young sons led Bob & me in prayers every night for the past few months for Ruth. What a privilege it has been to intercede for His mercy at the throne of Grace along with you all. Our hearts grieve alongside yours. We also hold on to the dear and real hope of being able to see Ruth again: whole and free! We love you and keep you and your family in prayers. May the Holy Spirit covers you with His mercy and faithful goodness for the entire grieving process - even as you try to live Ruth's victory forward as you already are doing. Lord, Faithful is Your Name. Itoe & Bob
